Living rooms can be as small as apartments or as large as a two rooms put together. A living room is the perfect place to entertain guests, share tender moments, talk to the rest of the family, talk on the phone, play a game, read a book, and more. When you move into a home, the living room seems to be the second most important room in the house, the kitchen being the first.
The way that you arrange a living room can say many things. You can leave a pathway to walk into another room, you can experiment with different colors and hues that you wouldn’t want to try in the bedrooms, dining room, or kitchen. You can also place focal points in the living room to highlight the fireplace, the entertainment center, or another focal point that you want.
If you want a formal look to your living room, you can show off some expensive art pieces or pottery pieces that tell a story of a long time ago. You could place a beautiful expensive painting directly above the sofa with nothing else on that side of the wall. You can place two end tables and a lamp on each one to complete the look. If you have a window on the wall, you can place a sophisticated window covering on the window made from the finest material and trimmed in fringe. You can display the beautiful portraits on each side of the window.
You can also go with a more comfortable look in your decor. Place a casual sofa on the longest wall and complete the look with two tall narrow portraits one each side of the sofa or you can choose to use just one large piece of artwork instead.
