What exactly is Valentine’s Day or Saint Valentine’s Day? It is a holiday celebrated on February 14 by many people throughout the world. On this special traditional day, lovers express their love for each other by sending Valentine’s cards, chocolates in cute heart shapes and greeting cards.
The sending of Valentines cards began in nineteenth-century in Great Britain in 1847. Here at home in the United States, a lovely lady named Esther Howland had a great idea and developed a successful business in her Worcester, Massachusetts home with hand-made Valentine cards based on British versions.
The popularity of Valentine cards grew in America around the 19th century with the tradition still being used today. Though many Valentine cards have become general greeting cards rather than declarations of love, it still has a huge impact of the future commercialization of holidays in the United States and all over the world. It has become so popular that is considered to be one of the Hallmark holidays.
I took my girlfriend to a wonderful restaurant in Boston called Landana Grill and she was lost for words. There is just something about it, look no more and take your loved one to a place away from the hustle of town life and head on to a great Italian romantic dining evening. In fact, spending Valentines day in a restaurant like this, made the whole day complete. The food was amazing to the point I can’t even begin to explain it correctly. Who knew Boston had a place like this hidden away in the woods.
